About the role
You'll play a key role in supporting Council-wide initiatives through clear, engaging, and inclusive communication. This is a fast-paced, generalist role where no two days are the same, so you'll need to be comfortable juggling multiple projects and priorities.
You’ll develop and deliver high-quality communications and engagement plans that reflect best practice and resonate with our people and our communities. Whether it's internal messaging, digital storytelling, community engagement, or campaign delivery, you’ll bring fresh thinking and a strong customer lens to everything you do.
Working within an in-house team that includes strategic communications, digital content and engagement, website development, and events, you'll be well supported to deliver impactful work that makes a difference.

About You | He kōrero mōu
You're a confident, adaptable communicator who thrives in a collaborative, fast-moving environment. With at least three years of experience in a communications or engagement role, you bring a strong mix of strategic thinking and hands-on delivery.
You’re someone who:
- Has a positive, can-do attitude and a high level of initiative.
- Has strong copywriting, editing and storytelling skills.
- Can confidently tailor messages for different channels and audiences.
- Takes feedback in stride and continuously looks to improve.
- Understands the digital communications landscape, including social media and online engagement tools.
- Has fresh ideas on how to engage communities in decision-making.
- Has excellent time management and can manage pressure and competing deadlines
- Is open to learning and leveraging new technologies, including AI.
- Exercises good judgement and understands the nuances of working in a public sector environment.
