We’re looking for a passionate Project Manager to help us build a better Kapiti. You’ll join our Project Management Office (PMO) and lead civil infrastructure projects from inception to completion, with a focus on design process management, scoping, tendering and construction delivery.
The PMO manages the Council’s major projects, working closely with Council teams and contractors, whilst managing relationships with our customers – the public and elected members. We use best-practice methodologies to manage, report, and govern the projects that shape our district.
We’re a multi-disciplined team that takes pride in improving the district’s infrastructure while handling the inevitable challenges with professionalism and a bit of humour.
The PMO sits within the Infrastructure and Asset Management Group, and this role reports directly to the Programme Delivery Manager Civil.

About you | He kōrero mōu
To excel in this role, you will have 7+ years project management experience, ideally in complex civil or infrastructure projects. Understanding of both the public sector client-side and contractor-side priorities will be beneficial. You’ll also bring strong knowledge of and experience in:
· Effective project delivery and contract management and administration in roading and/or three waters projects (preferably under NZS3910 standards).
· Budgeting, forecasting and cost control.
· Risk identification and mitigation.
· Problem solving under pressure – the ability to identify issues early, evaluate options, and implement practical solutions to keep projects on track.
· Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain effective professional working relationships with all stakeholders and work effectively as part of a team.
· Be self-motivated and well organised approach to work and the ability to maintain focus on priorities to meet deadlines.
· Excellent communications skills, both written and oral including report writing.
You will also need to hold a current and valid NZ Driver licence.
