Are you passionate about data and insights supporting local decision-making and outcomes?
We are looking for a dynamic person to join our newly formed Urban Planning and Research team to help us manage and deliver Council’s monitoring and research programme and build our monitoring and research capability.
In this role you will have the opportunity to demonstrate your practical knowledge of monitoring systems to help lead out across the organisation whilst building and implementing the council’s outcomes and performance frameworks, including the systems and processes for collecting and reporting data.
If you are in your zone where there’s variety and a drive to get things done, then you will love that you also get to demonstrate your skills and nous for analysis and communicating insights through regular reporting to decision makers and the community and share your knowledge by supporting and growing capability across other council teams.
This position reports to the Urban Planning and Research Manager but will involve working alongside other staff and project managers across the Strategy and Growth Group and Council.

To excel in this role, you will have:

Demonstrated understanding and experience of a broad range of research and evaluation methodologies, including the ability to effectively obtain, organise and analyse information.

Ability to effectively influence, gaining the trust and confidence of others, including demonstrated professional ability to relate to a wide range of people with differing levels of experience and understanding within and outside the organisation.

Ability to identify, design and support work to meet strategic and organisational priorities and design robust evaluation and research projects that meet information needs.

Proven experience in managing projects and demonstrated ability to manage and prioritise work and work effectively to deadlines.

Ability to translate analysis and findings into compelling outputs and communicate key ideas in plain English – both verbally and written.

Experience coaching less experienced team members and staff to grow skills and improve performance.

A relevant tertiary qualification in the social sciences, or equivalent with at least 10 years' experience in a similar or related role.
