We're looking for an experienced and creative Social Media Lead to join our high-performing Communications, Engagement and Events team. This is your chance to help shape how Kāpiti Coast District Council connects with our diverse communities - building trust, inspiring action, and delivering real value through engaging content.

What you’ll do 

In this key position, you’ll be the strategic driver and day-to-day manager of our social media presence. You’ll bring fresh ideas, data-driven thinking, and a deep understanding of digital engagement to: 

  • Develop and deliver compelling, on-brand content across Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn 

  • Lead the evolution of our social media strategy, using insights to boost reach, relevance and results 

  • Collaborate with teams across Council to share the stories that matter most to our community 

  • Coach and support colleagues to strengthen their own social media capabilities 

  • Stay ahead of the curve with emerging digital tools, trends, and innovations

About you | He kōrero mōu 

You're not just good at social media — you live and breathe it. You're a savvy digital communicator who understands how to build trust and tell meaningful stories in a crowded online space. 

You’ll bring: 

  • Proven experience managing professional social media channels (particularly Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn) 

  • A strong sense of storytelling and content creation, confident guiding or producing standout posts, visuals, and short-form video, with experience using tools like Canva or Adobe Creative Suite. 

  • Strong understanding of social media governance, brand voice, and tone 

  • Familiarity with analytics, and audience insights to guide strategy 

  • Confidence planning and executing campaigns that deliver impact — and knowing how to measure it 

  • Curiosity about emerging trends, AI tools, and automation in the social media landscape.
