About the role 

As Library Systems Administrator, you will play a key role in shaping the future of our library services by enhancing digital access, supporting learning, and driving innovation. In collaboration with the wider wellington region library networks, you will be managing our library collection management system (Spydus), maintaining essential back-end services, and supporting the broader digital and IT environment—ensuring our systems are reliable, efficient, and fit for purpose. As required, you will also provide staff training on library systems, helping to build digital confidence and capability across the team. 

This role will be working 20 hours per week and based at the Paraparaumu Library. As you support the libraries across the district, you may be required to travel to other library sites for support and staff training.

Skills and Experience 

  • Sound experience and operational knowledge of a library management system is highly desirable. 

  • Digitally savvy with strong digital literacy skills across multiple platforms. 

  • Ability to teach and share processes with customers and staff in a manner that is easily understood. 

  • Awareness of Te Ao Maori perspectives and Te Tiriti o Waitangi, and their application and expression within libraries. 

  • Demonstrated Problem Solving skills with Proactive and Positive Attitude. 

  • A commitment to excellent customer service.  

  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective professional working relationships. 

  • Effective time management skills and ability to work effectively without supervision and collaboratively as an effective team member. 

  • Holder of a current and valid NZ Drivers' licence.
