Flinders Quartet with Michael Houstoun (Piano)

Programme: Beethoven: String Quartet, Opus 95 Deborah Cheetham Fraillon: Bungaree Dvorak: Piano Quintet, Opus 81 The Flinders Quartet are one of Australia's most respected ensembles and are making their first visit to New Zealand. It is special to be hosting an Australian group but even more special that they will bring with them two of New Zealand's most popular and beloved musicians - violinist Wilma Smith and pianist Michael Houstoun. The programme will include two popular masterpieces - Beethoven's Opus 95 String Quartet ("Serioso") and Dvorak's lively and tuneful Piano Quintet in A. Also on the programme will be the NZ premiere of a work by eminent Aboriginal composer/singer Deborah Cheetham Fraillon. Named Bungaree, this piece was specially written for the Flinders Quartet.
