Hairdressers
We all love a great hairdresser, and our hairdressers do an amazing job of looking after us; including following particular rules to keep everyone safe. This includes registering under the Health Act 1956.
Registering a new hairdressing business
To apply to open a new hairdressing business:
- Complete all sections of the Application for licence or registration of hairdresser.
- Attach a floor plan of the premises.
- Submit your application to a council service centre.
- Ensure the applicable Environmental health and food premises fees have been paid.
Purchasing a hairdressing business
If you buy an existing hairdressing business, you’ll need to transfer the registration within 14 days of taking over the business.
To transfer a hairdressing registration:
- Complete the Application for licence or registration of hairdresser.
- Submit your application to a council service centre.
- Ensure the applicable Environmental health and food premises fees have been paid.
