Water supply
We're responsible for supplying safe water to approximately 20,000 connections for household and commercial water use in our District. In Kāpiti all of our public drinking water supplies are tested and treated with chlorine and high-intensity UV light and pH corrected to make sure it’s safe to drink.
At times the water you drink from the tap can taste different but that does not mean that it's unsafe. Water taste can be affected by temperature, the time the water has been in the pipes, river levels and flood water, and people’s plumbing systems.
Our water is sourced from various locations around the district and we're responsible for the management and maintenance of its assets like treatment plants, reservoirs, pump stations and the reticulation network.
Watch our video 'Household Water - water use and savings' on YouTube to see how to read your meter and manage water use around your home.
Water projects
We work with our communities to ensure people in the district have reliable access to clean water, now and in the future.
