Stormwater quality monitoring
Council monitors stormwater discharges to fresh and coastal water, under Council’s stormwater discharge consent.
Our monitoring focus under the 2021–41 Long-term Plan will be expanded to include managing any acute effects on human health, and to inform the development of a longer term stormwater management strategy for the district as required under the Greater Wellington Regional Councils Natural Resources Plan.
In partnership with Iwi, we will also focus on ecosystem health, mahinga kai, contact recreation and Māori customary use.
