Raumati Marine Gardens splash pad to get filtration system upgrade

The Kāpiti Coast District Council is upgrading the Raumati Marine Gardens splash pad filtration system to get it ready for the busy summer period ahead.

“We’re adding a new filtration system, which uses UV (ultraviolet) light to sanitise and improve the quality of the water,” says Parks and Recreation Manager, Alison Law.

“UV has proven very effective at reducing illness in public aquatic facilities, like pools and splash pads. We’ll be using it in combination with chlorine treatment.”

Ms Law says the splash pad will open in mid-October, after the new filtration system has been fitted and tested, and the other routine health and safety checks on the facility are complete. 

“Remember that no type of sanitation system is 100% effective, so we ask you to please postpone your visit to the pad by at least two weeks if your child has any symptoms of gastro flu.”
