Community event for Matariki
Te Puāwaitanga o Ngā Kākano, a group of young people focused on developing Maori youth in Kāpiti, will be running a community event this Saturday 18 July to celebrate Matariki.
The event, held at Ngā Purapura in Ōtaki from 1-5pm, will include live performances, activities and stalls.
“This is a great opportunity for people to get together and have some fun to celebrate Matariki,” Ngā Kākano member Te Rehia Lake Perez says.
“We have a talented line up of local bands and some really fun activities to participate in. Plus, there will be lots of great food available.”
Ngā Kākano (The Seeds) is funded and supported by Council. Members of the group meet regularly, talk to peers and develop themselves to help future generations.
