Greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions inventory reports

As part of reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions across the Kāpiti Coast district and our organisation, it's important we measure those emissions, so we can see how we're doing and track trends and improvements.

District emissions

GHG emissions for the Kāpiti Coast district are measured as part of Greater Wellington Regional Council’s regional emissions inventory using the Global Protocol for Community-Scale (GPC) Greenhouse Gas Emissions Inventory since 2018/19. The method includes emissions from stationary energy, transportation, waste, industry and agriculture.

You can read about regional emissions in the Wellington Region report at Greenhouse gas inventory, or find out more at Greater Wellington Regional Council.

Council's corporate GHG emissions

We have been measuring and reporting our GHG emissions since 2010. Our performance has been independently audited and verified under Enviro-Mark Solutions’ Certified Emissions Measurement and Reporting Scheme (CEMARS), renamed Toitū Carbon Reduce in 2019. This scheme has tracked how we measure, manage and reduce our GHG emissions. For more information, see the reports below.
