Building a better future for Kāpiti
Our Long-Term Plan sets out how we’ll invest in our community and infrastructure over the next 10 to 20 years. It’s our roadmap for creating a stronger, more resilient Kāpiti Coast.
We want our procurement (how we buy goods and services) to support the wellbeing of our people, environment, and economy. That means looking beyond just price and quality – we’re also focused on:
- creating local jobs
- working with diverse suppliers, including Māori and Pasifika businesses, social enterprises, and small local companies
- reducing carbon emissions and waste
- supporting community wellbeing.
We use our Supplier Hub to learn more about businesses that want to work with us. This helps us understand your capabilities and interests, and make better decisions when planning projects.
Another resource available to our suppliers is access to the Mayor’s Taskforce for Jobs team, who have extensive experience supporting local rangatahi into employment. For more information contact [email protected].
Working together
We want to be a customer of choice – easy to work with and open to new ideas. That starts with making it simple for suppliers to connect with us.
We also want to:
- keep suppliers informed and supported
- learn more about the supplier market
- get the best outcomes possible from every project.
Your role as a supplier
Council plays a big role in shaping the future of the Kāpiti Coast. We:
- manage local infrastructure like roads, water, and parks
- support community services like libraries and housing
- plan for future needs and protect the environment
- we represent the needs of our community in discussions with government and other organisations.
But we can’t do it alone. Our suppliers help us deliver these projects – from large infrastructure upgrades to smaller community initiatives.
Our annual spending is a mix of big and small projects – like stormwater upgrades, park developments, and climate action initiatives.
