Jewellery-making in 4 weeks - Saturday Mornings, Level 2+

Workspace Ōtaki, Ōtaki, Kapiti Coast

SAT 04 OCT 10:00 A.M. - 1:00 P.M.

This class is for level 2+ and advanced students. It is not open to beginners. This more advanced class is ideal for those who are already competent at soldering simple joins, annealing, and basic tool use on their own.
Students must have completed two 4-week blocks or a 6-week block at a minimum. If you are unsure of your level because you may have done a few different shorter classes, please contact us and we can advise you.
A more advanced set of students means that your tutor can support you and the group to take on more exciting and complex challenges. They will work with the group to find appropriate projects for you and for the class as a whole. Each 4-week block may focus on a particular skill topic, rather than doing loads of different topics with each student over the block. Level 2 students learn to solder more competently on their own using chainmaking as a way to develop their fine soldering skills. They may create a simple stone setting or ring alongside this challenge project so they have something to hone their skills that they are familiar with, as well as taking on a new skill. Their silver project could be a pendant on a handmade chain, a charm bracelet, or a more complex bezel setting. Level 3 and above students are encouraged to work on their design skills and try new and challenging techniques. They should prepare to have one or two simple projects they can work on self-directed in class.
This class fee does NOT include materials for any student. All metals and stones, as well as quality findings and chains, are available for purchase each week in the studio. Students are encouraged to keep their silver scrap and find ways to use it thriftily in future projects.
