The Mad Hatter's Market Express

The Mad Hatter's Market Express Journey with Steam Inc on this return trip to the Woodville Mad Hatter's Market Day! Bring the family up into the heart of the Manawatu on the steam train, and enjoy a fun filled day at Woodville's famed Mad Hatter's Market Day. Hauled by Ja 1271, our 1956 built steam locomotive. Join the train at Paekakariki, Paraparaumu, Waikanae, Otaki, Levin or Palmerston North. Upon arrival at Woodville, there is the option to walk up to the square, or travel by shuttle bus up. Woodville 150th Mad Hatter's Day Since 2017, the local Woodville community have hosted this special event in the heart of the township celebrating all thing's 'mad'! Bring the kids along for a children's tea party and old time games - with a particular focus on steampunk. Featuring live music, over 70 market stalls and most importantly - the annual Crazy Hat Competition! Last year, people on our train took away 1st place! Spot prizes are to be given out throughout the day for best costumes and hats, and an array of vouchers will also be up for grabs! Please be at your boarding station minimum 10 minutes prior ready to roll, with your tickets, carriage number and seating allocations at the ready. Please note that if booking online, our booking system does add on a small percentage to the above fares. Steam Incorporated does not see this revenue. Mad Hatters Menu The wonderful team has put together an array of food trucks for all to enjoy at the market, and you can also support the local cafes of Woodville township. There will also be tea/coffee available on board the train, along with some alcoholic beverages and light snacks.
