NZTrio He Taonga Wairere presents “Groove Café”

Te Raukura ki Kapiti, Coastlands Theatre, Paraparaumu, Kapiti Coast

SAT 28 FEB 6:00 P.M. - 7:00 P.M.

Welcome to Groove Café, where the music is strong and the vibe is even stronger. John Psathas’ Island Songs bring sun, surf, and a dash of Kiwi cool - no sunscreen required. Then you’re kept guessing with Eliodoro Sollima’s Tre movimenti, leaping from atonal intrigue to melodic surprises faster than you can say “cin cin”. Vivian Fung’s Ominous Machine whirs, glitches, and grooves like your favourite gadget on a caffeine rush. And it all ends with Nikolai Kapustin’s Divertissement, the ultimate musical cocktail: equal parts classical poise and jazz swagger, shaken (not stirred) into four sparkling movements. Described as a “national treasure” (NZ Herald), NZTrio He Taonga Wairere is renowned for its eclectic repertoire, outstanding talent and warm kiwi stage presence. Bringing together three incredibly accomplished artists: Amalia Hall (violin), Matthias Balzat (cello) & Stephen De Pledge (guest piano), every NZTrio performance powerfully reaffirms the importance and cathartic nature of a live musical experience in today’s digital world. John Psathas (NZ) - Island Songs Eliodoro Sollima - Tre movimenti Vivian Fung - Ominous Machine Nikolai Kapustin - Divertissement in 4 Movements Duration approx 60mins, no interval -- For accessibility seating information and wheelchair space bookings please email [email protected] or call 04)9740535 during office hours.
