Stacking Rings - Summer
Workspace Ōtaki, Ōtaki, Kapiti Coast
SAT 17 JAN 10:00 A.M. - 1:00 P.M.
Create your very own ring stack from copper, brass and sterling silver in this fast, fun and highly rewarding workshop! Guided by our experienced and supportive tutors, you’ll be introduced to the fundamental skills of jewellery-making while creating a small collection of rings to take home and treasure. During this 3-hour class, you’ll learn how to measure your finger, cut metal to size, and add textures and patterns using hammers and punches. From there, you’ll be shown how to solder your rings together with a jeweller’s torch before finishing them with filing, sanding and polishing techniques. Along the way, our tutors will share tips and tricks, patiently guiding you so you feel confident every step of the way. By the end of the session, you’ll have crafted two sterling silver rings and two copper or brass rings, and if time allows, you can make even more! Each ring you make is completely your own, whether you keep them sleek and simple or experiment with texture and pattern. You’ll leave not only with a stylish, wearable ring stack, but also with the joy of having made something truly unique with your own hands. This class is perfect for beginners, groups of friends, or visitors wanting a memorable creative experience. Many students find jewellery making a wonderfully mindful activity - slowing down, working with their hands and enjoying the calming rhythm of making. Your class fee includes copper and brass for practice, sterling silver for two rings, plus all consumables such as solder, sandpaper and polishing materials. Extra silver and other metals are available for purchase in the studio if you’d like to expand your collection. Children aged 12 and up are welcome, though anyone under 16 must be accompanied by an enrolled parent or caregiver.
