What the Citizens Advice Bureau do

The Citizens Advice Bureau is a free, confidential, and independent community organization that helps people understand their rights and responsibilities. Staffed largely by trained volunteers, they also can connect you with the right local services.

CAB provides guidance on a wide range of everyday issues such as:

  • consumer rights and complaints
  • employment rights
  • housing, renting and tenancy
  • immigration and citizenship
  • benefits and financial support
  • family and relationship matters
  • health and disability services
  • legal rights and disputes
  • education
  • neighbourhood and community issues
  • finding local support services.

CAB provides information and practical support but does not usually offer legal representation or financial advice.
