Kapiti Coast Airport noise complaints
Airport noise levels are already prescribed in the District Plan and all the various airport users are familiar with those rules.
From the public’s point of view, the most important thing in making any complaint about noisy aircraft, is to do it promptly and to have available the time of the incident and a description.
All complaints regarding noise generated from the Kāpiti Coast Airport or airport activities can be made by either:
- telephoning the 24/7 phone service on 021 922 787 and providing the operator with the data required
- downloading a pro forma complaint form from the airport website here and emailing it to [email protected], faxing to (04) 298 1005, or posting to:
The Airport Manager
Kāpiti Coast Airport Holdings Limited
PO Box 106249
Auckland 1010.
The complaint should include as much information as possible to help the investigation and then documentation and findings regarding the complaints will be reviewed by the Community Liaison Group.
Community Liaison Group
An airport related group came into existence in August 2007 following the adoption of the Airport Noise Management Plan by the Kāpiti Coast District Council.
The Airport Noise Management Plan was developed by a review panel and accepted by council in September 2010 as meeting the new District Plan requirements. At Council’s 13 September 2012 Regulatory Management Committee (RMC) meeting, the revised Airport Noise Management Plan[PDF 557 KB] was endorsed.
The CLG comprises representatives from the Paraparaumu community, airport users, airport owner and management and local iwi.
The current committee is:
Independent Chair | to be appointed |
Airport Manager – Kapiti Coast Airport | Simon Lockie |
Paraparaumu–Raumati Community Board Representative | Jonny Best |
Community Representative (Kāpiti Retirement Trust) |

Airport User – Air Chathams Ltd | Grant Jolley |
Te Ati Awa ki Whakarongotai Inc | Jack Rikihana |

The committee is required to determine the process for attending to noise complaints and to regularly review that process and activity.
