Rented properties
Council sends property owners the quarterly invoice for water. Owners and tenants should check their tenancy agreements and discuss the water charges.
For more information on water charges in a residential tenancy, and who is responsible for paying these, contact Tenancy Services, or visit their website at Water and wastewater charges.
Water readings at start and end of tenancies
When a tenancy agreement begins or ends, the owner and tenant should take a water meter reading at the property, so both parties know how much water has been used during the tenancy. See Reading your water meter.
Council can carry out special readings, for which there is a charge – find out more at Special and final water meter readings.
