Enrol

Enrolments are facilitated by the Electoral Commission. To be on the published roll, you have until 12 August to register online or via mail-in forms. Forms can be picked up from some NZ Post outlets or can be ordered via the Electoral Commission’s toll-free number 0800 36 76 56. Forms are also available at our service centres and district libraries.

Any enrolment option requires the voter to have a form of ID (either passport or driver’s licence) or a New Zealand Government RealMe account.

Enrolling to vote

To be on the published roll, you have until 12 August to enrol to vote. Enrol online, call 0800 36 76 56 or pick up a form from one of our service centres, district libraries or from some NZ Post outlets.

Check your enrolment

If you’ve voted in a general election, you should be enrolled to vote already.

You can check online by looking through the Preliminary Residential and Ratepayer Electoral Rolls. This will be available from Friday 15 July at our service centres and Paraparaumu, Waikanae and Ōtaki Libraries.

Not enrolled by 12 August

You can still vote, but you need to enrol and apply for a special vote.

We will have more details on this shortly.

Don't live in Kāpiti, but pay rates

If you pay rates on a property in the Kapiti area, but live outside the area (non-resident ratepayer electors) you can vote by ompleting the Enrolment Form for Ratepayer Electors[PDF 189 KB] with your new or updated information.
