We love welcoming new people to our district, so we've pulled together some essential tips for new (and old) residents living on the Kāpiti Coast. Do you know someone new to the area? Encourage them to sign up to Everything Kāpiti to stay in the know with Council news and opportunities to get involved.

18 August 2026 | Have we got our priorities right?
A lot goes into keeping Kāpiti in tip-top shape. We've been busy replacing old equipment and earthquake strengthening the Waikanae Water Treatment Plant to help keep drinking water safe and progressing the rebuild of the Paekākāriki seawall in challenging conditions.

11 August 2026 | Celebrating our local heroes
Kāpiti has plenty to celebrate this week! We’re shining a light on the Good Sorts and community groups doing wonderful things across our district, while looking forward to an extra day of creativity on this year’s Kāpiti Coast Art Trail.
We’re also standing up for Kāpiti in conversations about the future of local government, making streets safer, and celebrating a splash-tastic year at our pools – all 283,103 visits! Plus, there’s a new stretch of shared path to explore, another fully fenced playground for adventurous tamariki, and a seriously hot tip about rinsing your recycling.

4 August 2026 | Long-serving advocate steps down
There's plenty of things for you to do this week, such as helping us make our roads safer by having your say on our Speed Management Plan, signing up for ShakeOut to be earthquake ready, and eating your way around the district with Burger Wellington (Kāpiti edition).
Learn more about our single-transferable votes system and note you have until this Thursday to decide whether you want to be on the Māori roll or the General roll for November’s General Election.
28 July 2026 | Thanks for helping shape Kāpiti's priorities

21 July 2026 | New Waikanae River trail track opened
There's plenty to do in Kāpiti this week, whether it's checking out the new section of the Waikanae River trail or having your say on our Long-term Plan priorities and principles. This Sunday is the last day to have your say, and your thoughts will directly help inform how we plan the next 10 years.
Bird flu has been found in our region, if you see any dead or dying birds, please don't touch, keep your pets away, and report it to MPI.
