As a Business Partner Human Resources, you'll work closely with senior leaders to deliver strategic people solutions that build leadership capability, strengthen organisational performance, and create an engaged, high-performing workforce. You'll join a collaborative People & Capability team where your expertise, ideas and influence will help make a real difference.

Te Tūranga | The Opportunity

Reporting to the Manager Human Resources Service Delivery, you'll partner with Group Managers and leaders across the organisation to provide strategic and operational HR advice. Supported by an HR Advisor and HR Coordinator, you'll work collaboratively with our wider People & Capability team, to deliver people initiatives that align with Council's strategic priorities.
You'll provide expert guidance across the employee lifecycle while helping leaders build engaged, capable, and high-performing teams.

Kō tō mahi | What you'll do

  • Partner with leaders to develop workforce strategies that support business objectives.
  • Provide trusted advice across employee relations, performance management, employment legislation and complex people matters.
  • Coach and support leaders to build confidence, capability and effective people leadership.
  • Lead and support organisational change initiatives, ensuring people are engaged throughout the process.
  • Partner with Organisational Development to strengthen and support people related projects.
  • Support continuous improvement by developing practical HR solutions, frameworks and initiatives.
Nā tōu rourou | What you'll bring
You'll be an experienced HR professional who enjoys building trusted relationships and influencing positive outcomes. You'll bring:
  • A relevant tertiary qualification in Human Resources or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience in a strategic generalist HR or HR Business Partner role.
  • Strong knowledge of employment legislation, employee relations, performance management and organisational change.
  • Proven ability to coach and influence leaders at all levels.
  • Excellent relationship-building, communication and problem-solving skills.
  • A collaborative approach, with the ability to balance competing priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • A commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and an understanding of te ao Māori and tikanga Māori.
