Come and join our Parks & Reserves team as our next Arborist Team Leader in this 6 month, fixed term opportunity!
We’re looking for a capable and motivated leader who can advise on and deliver high-quality tree management and maintenance services across the Kāpiti Coast District. This is a fantastic opportunity to shape the health, safety, and sustainability of our district’s urban forest.
In this key position, you will oversee day-to-day arboriculture operations, plan and coordinate work programmes, ensure health and safety standards are met, and provide technical advice on tree management.
You will work alongside a dedicated and experienced team committed to enhancing our parks and reserves, and report to the Parks Supervisor, who brings extensive experience in community asset management and environmental stewardship. Together, you will ensure the smooth delivery of arboriculture services and help create a safe, thriving, and enjoyable environment for our community.
Nā tōu rourou | What you will bring
To excel in this role, you will have strong arboriculture expertise, leadership experience, and hold a current and valid NZ Driver Licence (Class 2 preferred).
You’ll also bring strong knowledge of and experience in:

- Arboriculture practices, tree health assessment, and risk management
- Leading and mentoring teams in a field-based environment
- Planning, scheduling, and coordinating operational work programmes
- Health and safety compliance and best practice
- Use and maintenance of arboriculture equipment and machinery
- Customer and community engagement
- Relevant qualifications in arboriculture (e.g. Level 4 Certificate or equivalent)
