Community groups receive creative grants

Published prior to 2016

Thirteen Kāpiti groups and individuals will undertake a wide variety of creative projects this year, thanks to receiving Creative Communities Scheme grants.

The Committee considered 17 applications and granted a total of $19,188 to the 13 successful recipients.

The Creative Communities Scheme is funded mostly by Creative New Zealand, with a small amount from the Council, which also administers the scheme.  It aims to support and encourage local communities to create and present diverse arts activities within the District.

Council’s Creative Communities Committee is made up of three Councillors, three iwi representatives, two community representatives and one youth council representative.

There are two funding rounds each year. The next funding round will be held in March / April 2016, with the funding meeting in April 2016.
