09 Jul: We're making payments and online services easier – Find out about changes to My Kāpiti, payments, building applications and online services.

We’re making payments and online services simpler

9 Jul 2026, 11:59 AM

From 1 July 2026, we've made changes to our online systems to make it easier for you to contact us, complete forms, track requests, receive updates and make secure payments.

Our online systems help us support the community every day. They bring important information together so our staff can respond more quickly, manage services well, and make it easier for you to access the help you need.

This includes things like reporting a problem, registering a dog, booking a community hall, applying for a building consent, or paying rates and water bills.

What this means for you

These changes will help us provide Council services in a simpler, safer and more reliable way, with online services that are easier to use and easier to keep track of.

Thank you for your patience as we get used to our new systems.

What do you need to do?

If you don’t have a My Kāpiti login, you can create one to access additional services and see more information about your requests, applications and payments.

Through My Kāpiti, you can:

  • Pay rates, infringements and other invoices
  • Register your dog
  • Apply for a Land Information Memorandum
  • Report a problem or make a request
  • Submit building and resource consent applications
  • Check the status of your applications and respond to requests as they happen
  • View previously submitted applications and requests

Go to My Kāpiti.

Changes to online building applications

My Kāpiti has replaced Simpli as our online building application system.

If you lodged an application with us prior to 30 June 2026, you may have limited access to this information in Simpli. We’re working in the background to process your application, including transferring your application and information into our new system. We’ll let you know how you can access your application once this process has finished.

Rest assured we’re continuing to work on your application. The statutory clock started when we received your complete application and we’re working hard to complete them  within the 20 working days.

If you have a draft building application that wasn’t submitted in Simpli before 30 June 2026, please upload these into My Kāpiti.

Thank you for your patience during this short period of disruption. Please get in touch with our building team if you have any issues or concerns.

Payments

With our new system:

  • You'll no longer be able to make payments through our Westpac Credit Card portal or at Westpac branches.
  • You'll be able to pay your rates and other invoices securely online through My Kāpiti.
    • Please note a processing fee of 1.9 percent will be added to your online credit and debit card payment for card processing by Council's bank. This fee will not be itemised on your bank statement but will be included in the transaction total. The surcharge will be displayed before you proceed to credit or debit card payment.
  • You'll still be able to make payments in-person at our service centres, at your local PostShop, and by direct debit or internet/telephone banking.

New rates and water account numbers

On your next invoice, you’ll see a new rates account number and a new water account number.

If you pay your rates or water invoice through internet banking, please update your payment references with the new account numbers on your invoice. We can still match payments made with your old references, but updating them will make things quicker and smoother.

If you pay by credit or debit card, you'll be able to pay your rates securely online through My Kāpiti.

If you pay by direct debit, your water account reference will automatically update from 1 July.

See our payments page for more information, or contact us if you’re unsure about anything. We’re happy to help.
