13 Jul 2026

When it comes to parks and recreation in the district, we definitely aren't playing around! It's been a busy season for our Parks and Playgrounds team with lots on the go, both big and small.

These projects help keep our shared spaces in tip-top shape for everyone to enjoy, have heaps of fun, and connect with whānau and friends.

Here's a quick round-up of our latest park upgrades from across the district.

  • Waikanae Skatepark is officially open!
  • Maclean Park's new spacenet is waiting for you to reach the top.
  • Playground refresh complete at Leinster Avenue Reserve.
  • Rest and watch the world go by on the new seating at Maclean Park.
  • The new double flying fox at Mazengarb Park is ready for flying fun.
  • It's game, set and match at the recently resurfaced Paekākāriki tennis courts.
  • Enjoy the new doggo space at Mazengarb Park, zoomies essential.
  • Reach the sports ground at Waikanae Park with the new accessible pathway.

Temporary fencing surrounds the skate area, with dense green trees in the background. The skate bowl appears newly constructed and is free of skateboards or scooters.

What's next?

New lights are coming to Haruātai Park to light up the basketball court and the team are investigating the next batch of playground refreshes.

It's all part of investing in the spaces our community uses and loves, creating more reasons to get outside, explore a little more, and enjoy everything that makes living on the Kāpiti Coast so special.
