Pharazyn Reserve
Rutherford Drive, Waikanae Beach
Why it's special
Great for active play
Pharazyn Reserve’s playground is a hit with children, thanks to its flying fox, which adds an element of excitement and fun. The large, open spaces around the playground also provide plenty of room for kids to run, explore, and play. The reserve offers an enjoyable experience for both younger and older children, making it a fantastic location for a family outing.
Unique natural habitat
In addition to the playground, Pharazyn Reserve is located beside the Te Harakeke Swamp, one of the Kapiti Coast District's most significant wetland habitats. This swamp is home to harakeke flaxland and raupo reedland, which are rare in the district and in Aotearoa as a whole. The reserve’s natural beauty and birdlife, combined with its historical and ecological significance, make it an ideal place to appreciate local wildlife and the environment.
