The Waikanae Music Society is looking forward to welcoming back the talented Auckland duo James Jin and Xing Wang whose 2025 concert was so popular. With a similar programme format to last year, they will play violin sonatas by Beethoven and Mozart, followed by some charming arrangements of Chinese folk-songs. The most substantial work on the programme will be Grieg’s third Violin Sonata, the best known and most dramatic of the Norwegian composer’s three violin sonatas. James and Xing are both in high demand as teachers and performers. James is a teaching fellow at the University of Auckland as well as holding leading roles in orchestras throughout the country, both as performer and conductor. Xing, a graduate of the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, is a sought-after collaborative pianist and chamber musician. As a soloist she has appeared with many New Zealand orchestras, and has given numerous solo recitals in New Zealand and overseas. The concert, in the Waikanae Memorial Hall, will be at 2.30pm on Sunday 7 June.
