School Holiday Steam Steam Trains between Paekakariki & Porirua | 12th July 2026 Break the School Holiday Boredom! Join Steam Incorporated this School Holidays, as we invite you onboard our heritage train for a brilliant steam train ride for the whole family! Trains are operating all Sunday between Paekakariki and Porirua, a beautiful scenic run along the Paekakariki Escarpment on the Kapiti Coast. In our run between Pukerua Bay and Paekakariki, we pass through 6 short tunnels! A section of railway line with origins dating back to 1886. A scenic train journey for the whole family, steam along the coast onboard our heritage train with our friendly team! These trains are topped & tailed by one of our coal-fired steam locomotives, and our Da class diesel electric. Return Fares Family - $99 - 2 Adults & 2 Children General Admission - $29 - Aged 3+ Infant - Free - No allocated seat Available Times Departing Paekakariki: Sunday 12th July Departing Paekakariki Station at 8:45am Departing Paekakariki Station at 10:15am Departing Paekakariki Station at 11:45am Departing Paekakariki Station at 1:45pm Departing Paekakariki Station at 3:15pm Available Times Departing Porirua: Sunday 12th July Departing Porirua Station at 9:35am Departing Porirua Station at 11:05am Departing Porirua Station at 12:35pm - With Short Layover! Departing Porirua Station at 2:35pm The 12:35 pm departure will be stopped in Paekakariki for approximately 30mins. Beat the School Holiday blues— our steam train awaits. Please note that if booking online, our booking system does add on a 5% booking fee to the above fares. Steam Incorporated does not see this revenue.
