Paekākāriki Film Festival 2026

The Paekākāriki Community Trust would like to warmly welcome you, your family and friends to our Film Festival in the St. Peters Village Hall Paekākāriki. June 14: "My Favourite Cake" (NZIFF 2024) is a delightful, bittersweet Iranian romantic comedy-drama about a seventy-year-old widow who is inspired to have a bit of excitement after years of duty and repression. (Cake treats in house too for a few extra coins) June 21: "Put Your Soul on Your Hand and Walk" (NZIFF 2025) is a heart-breaking but essential portrait of life in Gaza during the Israeli military campaign, centred on courageous Palestinian photojournalist Fatima Hassouna. June 28: "Thelma and Louise" (1991) is a landmark film and one of the very best films of the 1990s. It's a fierce feminist celebration packaged into a wildly entertaining road movie starring Geena Davis and Susan Sarandon.
