Therapeutic Gong Bath with Nick
Lotus Yoga Centre, Paraparaumu, Kapiti Coast
SAT 18 JUL 6:00 P.M. - 7:30 P.M.
Join Nick for this therapeutic 90 minute Gong Bath to unwind from the stress of your day/week/year, in the beautiful Lotus Yoga Centre & Retreat. This event features a Mindful Somatic grounding introduction, a short Yoga Nidra, long form drone based Gong playing, and ends with integration with an optional hang out & chat afterwards. The event is 90 minutes, so we can take our time, slow down, and really give lots of space for listening and staying in deep states. Lots of attendees say 60 minutes fly's by, so I decided to make it a bit longer. Some of the benefits of these gongs baths are: resting into deeper brainwave states induced by the rich harmonics of the gongs, inviting the nervous system to relax into the rest & digest mode through long droning sounds, reaching Ventral Vagal states from the grounding meditation intro, and our primal human need for social connection & co-regulation in safe environments. The sounds themselves are unlike anything else really, like some kind of rich, harmonic, electronic music yet organic and resonant. Nick uses three medium-large Paiste 'Planet' gongs, which are unique for being tuned to a fundamental pitch, 'full moon' Tibetan singing bowls, monochord, zither, percussion, and a singing pyramid, and structures the set using his Music studies, and extensive training in Mindful Somatic Therapy. Nick has been producing and playing with music since his earliest teens, having graduated from The New Zealand School of Music, and The University of Auckland in Psychology with over 4 years of work experience in experiential therapies, combining musical and therapeutic worlds with events like these throughout Wellington and the lower North Island for the past 2.5+ years. If you live with any of these, please talk to your Doctor first, to make sure the event will be suitable: -have a pacemaker or other implanted medical device -live with epilepsy or a sound-sensitive condition -are in the first trimester of pregnancy -are experiencing severe or unmanaged mental health challenges (such as psychosis, schizophrenia, or PTSD) Please bring along anything that'll help you feel more comfortable (pillow, eye mask, blanket, or earplugs if you live with tinnitus). The Lotus Centre has heaps of free parking, and the hosting studio is upstairs in the Yoga studio, which has lots of carpeted space for you to choose a spot. See you there!
