This is the date of the Open Mic Night, a celebration of poetry on National Poetry Day.
Come and share your poem in front of a friendly, supportive audience! The results of the competition will be announced and copies of the print book will be available for sale.

If You're a Poet, We Want to Know It - is back!
Kāpiti Coast District Libraries' annual poetry competition returns for its thirteenth year. Celebrate Phantom Billstickers National Poetry Day by writing a poem on the theme Tomorrow/ Āpōpō. As usual, the theme can be interpreted any way you like. All entries will be compiled and published in a print book and eBook. Winners will be announced on National Poetry Day at the Open Mic Night at Paraparaumu Library on Friday 22 August, 5:30–6:30pm.
Entry Details: Entry is free and open to anyone in the Kāpiti community. You may submit one poem per person of no more than 10 lines. The submission form will be available on the library website from Sunday 1 June
Entries may be in English or Te Reo Māori. The submissions are open to three age groups:

Mēnā Koe He Kairuri, E Hiahia Mōhio Ana Mātou - kua ara ake anō!
Kua ara mai anō te whakataetae ruri ā-tau o Ngā Whare Pukapuka o Kāpiti mō tana tau tekau mā toru. Whakanuia te Rā Ruri ā-Motu Phantom Billstickers, mā te tuhi ruri mō te kaupapa Āpōpō. Ko taua āhua anō, kei a koe mō te whakakupu i te kaupapa nei. Ko ngā ruri katoa, ka kohia, ka whakaputaina i tētahi pukapuka, e-puka hoki. Ka whakapaohotia ngā toa o te whakataetae i Te Pō Hopuoro Tuwhera i te Paraire 22 o Ākuhata 2025 5.30–6.30pm i Te Whare Pukapuka o Paraparaumu.
Taipitopito Whakauru: He kore utu te uru, ā, e wātea ana ki ngā tāngata katoa o Kāpiti. Kotahi te ruri mā te tangata kotahi, ā, kia kaua e roa ake i te 10 rārangi te roa. Ka wātea ngā tono i te pae tukutuku whare pukapuka atu i te Rātapu 1 o Hune.
E pai ana kia tuhia ngā ruri ki te reo Pākehā, reo Māori rānei. Ka wātea te tono nei ki ngā rōpū pakeke e toru:
