Due dates and penalties

A property rating year begins on 1 July and ends on 30 June. It’s divided into four equal periods, each invoiced separately. Each of these periods has a date by which the payment is due to avoid paying penalties.

Property rates

To avoid penalties, you must pay your property rates instalments in full by the following due dates:

9 September 2025

first instalment due

9 December 2025

second instalment due

9 March 2026

third instalment due

9 June 2026

fourth instalment due

A charge of 10 percent will be added to any amount of the current rate instalment unpaid after the due date.

An additional 10 percent penalty will be added on 28 July 2025 to any rates remaining unpaid from previous financial years at 1 July 2025.

Water rates

Under sections 57 and 58 of the Local Government (Rating) Action 2002, a 10 percent penalty will be added to any portion of a current water rates invoice unpaid after the due date specified on each invoice. The penalty will be added on the penalty dates shown below. All payments made will be receipted against the earliest water rate outstanding in accordance with authorised accounting procedures.
