Lost and impounded animals
Public spaces animal control officers have the right to seize and impound any wandering stock or unregistered dogs, or if a dog is making noise that's causing distress.
We do our best to contact an animal's owner as soon as we can. When we contact the owner, we make arrangements for the impounded animal to be collected and any outstanding fees to be paid. No animal will be released before all outstanding impounding fees are paid; see Animal management impounding charges under Animal management fees for more information.
Animals can be collected by arrangement Monday to Sunday 7am–7pm.
Contact us if your animal has been impounded, or you believe it may have been impounded.
