Ōtaki stormwater upgrade

A major stormwater upgrade is under way in Ōtaki Beach from March 2021 to mid 2022. The project will upgrade the stormwater network along Toi Street, Manuka Street, Moana Street, and Tasman Road at the intersection of Moana Street.

Changes we're making | Project stages and timing | Affected residents |

Changes we're making

The new stormwater pipes will have a larger capacity than the existing network and will reduce the likelihood of flooding after heavy rain. In some places, the water reticulation network will also be be replaced to accommodate the new stormwater pipes.

The new pipes will be laid in the road and berm areas.

Pipes will be installed by open trenching. Some of the water mains will be installed using trenchless methods.

Affected residents

Traffic management will be in place during the works. And while we aim to minimise disruption caused by the works, we acknowledge residents might experience some work-related noise and localised vibration from digging, as well as construction vehicles in the Ōtaki Beach neighbourhood during the works.

The contractors will let residents know in advance when the work is being done in each street and if access to driveways is affected. Hours of work: Monday to Friday between 7am and 7pm and Saturday between 8am and 1pm. If you have any questions about the day-to-day works, please contact our contractor, Dave Murtagh of Action Civil, on 027 442 2971.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation while we complete this important project to improve the stormwater network.
