We are looking for a General Maintenance Serviceperson to help deliver a range of maintenance services across the Kapiti District. This is a fantastic opportunity to work outdoors, contribute directly to the appearance and cleanliness of our public spaces, and be part of a supportive and hardworking team.
In this key position, you will undertake a variety of general maintenance activities including servicing Council facilities and reserve bins, responding to illegally dumped waste, and assisting the Parks and Reserves team as required. You'll also operate and maintain a range of plant and machinery while ensuring work is completed safely and efficiently.
As part of the Operations Team, you'll work closely with your colleagues and report to the Team Leader of Mowing. Together, you'll help ensure Council assets and public spaces are maintained to a high standard for our community.
This role works on a 5-day roster, with Saturday and Sunday forming part of the normal working week, so flexibility to work weekends is essential.

To excel in this role, you will have a positive attitude, enjoy working outdoors in a physically active role, and hold a current and valid NZ Driver Licence with Class 2 endorsement.

- An understanding of the importance of effective solid waste collection and disposal services.
- The ability to safely undertake physical outdoor work in a variety of conditions. Working effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Experience using or the willingness to learn to operate a range of plant and machinery safely and effectively.
- Time management, organisation and accurate record keeping.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to build positive working relationships with colleagues and members of the public.
- Safe work practices and a commitment to health and safety.
- Willingness to work additional or alternative hours when required.
