Te tūranga | The Opportunity 
 
Help bring Te Ara Whetū to life by providing the organisation, coordination and operational support that keeps a busy library hub thriving.  
  
This is a unique opportunity to join the brand new team at Kāpiti Coast District Council's new library hub in Waikanae. You will establish Te Ara Whetū from the ground up and become a key part of a team creating a vibrant and welcoming community destination.  
  
In this varied and fast paced role, no two days will be the same. You will be an active member of the frontline team, delivering exceptional customer service across both library and Council services while helping create a welcoming and engaging experience for our community. You will coordinate administrative and operational activities, support the Hub Lead and wider team, and ensure the day to day operation of the hub runs smoothly and efficiently. During Saturday opening hours, you will provide leadership and support to the team, helping ensure a positive experience for customers and staff. 
  
You will work closely with the Hub Lead to deliver continuously improving services, while collaborating with the Experience Coordinator and Programmes Coordinator to support venue bookings, programmes, events and community activities. 
  
You will enjoy taking ownership, anticipating what needs to be done, following through on actions and finding practical solutions that help the hub operate smoothly and efficiently.  
  
Together with the team, you will help create an exceptional experience for our community while contributing to a  supportive and collaborative team environment.

To excel in this role, you will have, proven administration and customer service skills, exceptional organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and hold a current and valid NZ Driver licence.  
You’ll also bring strong knowledge of and experience in:  Using initiative and a proactive approach, with the confidence to identify issues and act without waiting to be asked.  
  • Experience providing quality administrative and operational support.  
  • Strong customer service skills and a genuine commitment to helping others.  
  • Ability to build positive relationships and support colleagues across all areas of the hub.  
  • Experience improving processes, coordinating tasks and ensuring work is completed accurately and efficiently.  
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.  
  • Strong digital skills and confidence learning new systems.  
  • A solution focused mindset and the ability to remain calm and adaptable in a busy environment. 
  • Ability to support operational decision making and work closely with leadership to achieve team goals.
