Programme Coordinator delivers engaging programmes and events that connect people, support learning, and enhance community wellbeing at Te Ara Whetū.

Help bring Te Ara Whetū to life through inspiring programmes, meaningful community connections, and memorable experiences. This is a unique opportunity to join a brand new team at Kāpiti Coast District Council’s new Library Hub in Waikanae. You will play a key role in creating a vibrant, welcoming and well used destination for our community.
This role requires energy, enthusiasm, creativity and forward thinking along with a genuine passion for community engagement. You will collaborate with community organisations, local iwi, Council teams, and other Programme Coordinators across the district. Together, you will strategically create an innovative and engaging range of programmes and opportunities that supports lifelong learning, literacy and community wellbeing.
You need to be a driven networker. You will create programmes that celebrate diverse interests, including arts, creativity, culture, learning, technology, wellbeing and community connection. Using your skills in communications and social media you will bring your programmes to life and encourage participation from people from all ages.
As part of the Te Ara Whetū team, you will work closely with the Experience Coordinator to support venue bookings, events, partnerships and opportunities. You will also work alongside the passionate people in the Library Hub Services team and report to the Te Ara Whetū Hub Lead.

- Experience planning, coordinating and delivering programmes, events or community initiatives
- Ability to identify community interests and translate them into engaging and meaningful activities.
- Strong networking skills to build positive relationships with community groups, organisations and stakeholders.
- Encouraging community participation and creating welcoming environments.
- Aptitude to plan ahead and manage a programme schedule across multiple months and priorities
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues across the district to deliver a coordinated and strategic programme offering.
- Competence in digital systems and technology to support planning, communication and programme delivery.
- Identifying opportunities to be innovative and continuously improve services and experiences.
