Do you have a passion for horticulture and take pride in creating and maintaining beautiful public spaces?
Join our Parks and Reserves Operations Team as a Serviceperson - Horticultural Amenities and help maintain the vibrant gardens, floral displays, and revegetation areas that make the Kāpiti Coast such a special place to live and visit.
We're looking for an enthusiastic and experienced horticultural professional who enjoys working outdoors, has a keen eye for detail, and is committed to maintaining our parks, gardens, and public spaces to a high standard.
In this key position, you will:
Maintain annual bedding displays, gardens, shrubbery and amenity planting areas.
Assist with the planning, maintenance and improvement of revegetation plantings across the district.
Undertake ride-on and pedestrian mowing, line trimming and general horticultural maintenance.
Carry out seasonal herbicide, pesticide and fertiliser applications.
Operate and maintain a range of horticultural equipment and machinery.
Contribute to maintaining safe, attractive and welcoming public spaces for our community.
You will work alongside a dedicated team of horticultural professionals and report to the Team Leader Horticulture. Together, you'll help ensure Kāpiti's parks, reserves and public gardens continue to thrive and provide enjoyment for residents and visitors alike.

To excel in this role, you'll have practical amenity horticulture experience and a genuine passion for maintaining high-quality public landscapes. You'll also hold a current and valid New Zealand Driver Licence.

- Proven amenity horticulture experience with sound knowledge of trees, shrubs and annual bedding plants.
- Strong practical horticultural skills and attention to detail.
- Experience operating horticultural equipment and machinery, including ride-on mowers, pedestrian mowers, line trimmers and chainsaws.
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- A commitment to workplace health and safety.
- The physical capability to undertake outdoor work including lifting, digging and manual tasks.
- Grow Safe Certification.
- First Aid Certification.
