Are you an experienced parks maintenance operator, grounds person, mower operator, or someone with proven practical skills and a passion for maintaining community spaces?
Come and join our Parks & Reserves Operations Team!
We are looking for a motivated and reliable Serviceperson Parks & Reserves to help maintain our parks, reserves, sports fields and public open spaces across the Kapiti District. This is a fantastic opportunity to work outdoors every day, operate a variety of machinery and equipment, and make a visible contribution to the spaces our community enjoys.
In this key position, you will undertake a range of maintenance activities including pedestrian and ride-on mowing, line trimming, planting, spray application work, and general upkeep of reserves and public open spaces. You will also play an important role in maintaining our equipment and ensuring customer requests are responded to in a timely and professional manner.
You will work alongside a dedicated and experienced Parks & Reserves team and report to the Team Leader Mowing. Together, you'll help ensure our parks, reserves and recreational spaces are maintained to a high standard, creating safe, attractive and enjoyable environments for our community to enjoy.

You’ll also bring strong knowledge of and experience in:- Operating ride-on mowers, pedestrian mowers, line trimmers and other parks maintenance equipment
- Working safely and confidently in outdoor environments
- Delivering high-quality parks, reserves or grounds maintenance services
- Establishing positive relationships with colleagues, contractors and members of the public
- Working independently while also contributing effectively as part of a team
- Completing physically demanding tasks safely and efficiently
- Maintaining plant and machinery to a high standard
- Providing excellent customer service and representing Council professionally
- Experience in the parks, reserves, horticulture or landscaping sector (preferred)
- A current First Aid Certificate and/or GrowSafe Certificate is advantageous, although training will be provided to successful candidates if required
- Experience operating tractor-mounted mowing equipment would be highly regarded.
