Are you a big picture thinker and able to develop advice in a dynamic operating environment?

If so, come and join the Strategy and Policy team at the Kapiti Coast District Council.
  
We require a Strategic Advisor who thinks strategically and likes to solve hard problems.
This is a fantastic opportunity to hone your experience in providing strategic leadership and policy advice across the development of key strategies, projects and work programmes.
  
Reporting to the Lead, Strategy Development, in this key position you will work with the team to provide high quality advice and insights on complex, cross-cutting issues important to our communities.
  
You will work alongside the broader Strategy and Policy team to lead or support aspects of the team’s work programme and provide advice on the work of other teams across the Strategy and Growth group and the organisation as a whole. You will work with your team on emerging strategic issues, and on facilitating and coordinating fit-for-purpose and timely advice to elected members and the senior leadership team.

Nā tōu rourou | What you will bring

To excel in this role, you will have a solid understanding of strategic and systems thinking or are a well-regarded policy analyst.
  
Ideally, you will have experience in local or central government, or, have experience working with local or central government in an advisory capacity. We are interested in hearing from you if you can demonstrate a strong analytical ability, good judgement, the ability to build strong relationships and are an effective communicator.
  
You will be adept at working collaboratively, are flexible and solutions-focused and able to gain the trust and confidence of others. You embrace ambiguity and enjoy bringing people and information together. You demonstrate a good level of knowledge and awareness of interests, perspectives and issues relevant to Māori in the district.
