Te tūranga | The Opportunity
This is a fantastic opportunity to join Kāpiti Coast District Libraries as a Library Hub Casual. Help connect our communities with the people, spaces, collections and services that make Kāpiti's library hubs such valued community destinations. Working across our network of library hubs, you will help deliver exceptional customer service and support the day to day operation of our library services throughout the district.Are you an experienced customer service professional, library assistant, retail specialist or have proven experience providing outstanding service in a busy customer focused environment?
Join the Kāpiti Coast District Libraries team! We are looking for reliable, adaptable and customer focused people who enjoy helping others and creating positive experiences for the community. This role is ideal for someone who values flexibility and enjoys the opportunity to choose shifts that fit their availability and lifestyle. In this varied role, no two shifts will be the same. You will be an active member of the frontline team, delivering exceptional customer service, assisting customers to access library and Council services, processing returns, maintaining collections, shelving resources, supporting digital services and helping create welcoming library spaces for our communities. You will provide casual cover across our library hubs throughout the district, supporting teams during periods of leave, training and increased demand. The ability to adapt quickly, learn new processes and build positive relationships with both customers and colleagues will be key to your success. You will work alongside a range of library teams across the district and contribute to creating positive experiences for our customers. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain experience in a variety of library environments while supporting communities from Paraparaumu to Ōtaki
Nā tōu rourou | What you will bring
To excel in this role, you will have excellent customer service skills, a positive and adaptable approach, and the ability to work confidently across multiple library hubs. You will also hold a current and valid NZ Driver licence.
You’ll also bring strong knowledge of and experience in:
- Delivering exceptional customer service in a busy public facing environment.
- Building positive relationships with customers, colleagues and the wider community.
- Working collaboratively as part of a team.
- Learning new systems, processes and ways of working quickly.
- Supporting customers to use technology, digital services and online resources.
- Managing competing priorities while maintaining a high level of service.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Adapting to different teams, locations and customer needs.
- Working with initiative and a positive, solutions focused approach.
- An interest in libraries, literacy, learning and community connection.
- Flexibility to work across multiple library hubs throughout the district.
- Have a current driver’s license.
