This week in Kāpiti – all you need to know

17 Mar 2026, 2:15 PM

What a lovely weekend in Kāpiti. It was so great to see our sky covered in colour with the Ōtaki Kite Festival.

The action in Ōtaki isn't stopping either, with Māoriland Film Festival coming 24–28 March. Make sure to go and check out the world's largest celebration of Indigenous storytelling.

Please note that Marine Gardens Splashpad has had some mechanical issues and will now be closed for the rest of the season – Ōtaki Splashpad will remain open.

This week we're all about celebrating our community, from the local businesses that attended TASTE'26 at Parliament and how to enter your business for a Wellington Gold Award, to helping 18–24 year olds get job ready with the Mayors Taskforce for Jobs programme. Read on to stay informed.
