Less Waste Grants now open – Apply before 21 June

11 May 2026

We're encouraging our suppliers and local businesses to apply for our annual Less Waste grants before applications close on 21 June.

We want to work with you to strengthen how we deliver positive environmental outcomes. Our Less Waste annual grants give you a practical way to turn innovative ideas into action and help reduce waste across Kāpiti.

You can apply for funding for eligible waste minimisation projects, with up to 75 percent of eligible ‘less waste’ project-specific costs covered. This co-funding makes it easier to trial new approaches, invest in improved systems, and embed more sustainable practices in day-to-day operations.

Your project can focus on areas such as:

  • reducing construction and demolition waste
  • improving reuse and recycling
  • adopting circular economy approaches.

Contracts undertaken for Council can generate a significant share of landfill waste, presenting a clear opportunity for our suppliers to lead change through smarter design, material use, and recovery practices.

Local initiatives like Ōtaihanga Zero Waste show what's possible when we work together – reducing waste, creating value from materials, and supporting more sustainable ways of working.

You play a vital role in delivering services and infrastructure across the district. By applying for Less Waste funding, you can strengthen your sustainability performance while helping achieve long-term outcomes for the Kāpiti Coast.

If you have a project idea that could make a difference, now is the time to act.
