Get ready for a night celebrating the talent, creativity and diversity of original New Zealand music, coming to St Peter’s Hall in Paekākāriki. Headlining the evening is Glow Becky, a band defined by diversity, versatility and raw organic energy. Formed in 2016 after an instant connection during a spontaneous Auckland jam session, the four musicians bring together a unique mix of styles, grooves and experiences. Their live shows are dynamic and full of energy, with each musician bringing their own talent to create something genuinely special. Joining them are The New Things, straight out of the surf suburb of Paekākāriki. This three-piece brings you crush songs, uncanny pop, weird musings and baseless libel. Individually, they’ve been writing and performing Kiwi indie-pop for years, but as The New Things they’ve spent the last three years creating their own sound and DIY-producing their music from the comfort of their living room. Interlopers bring a different flavour to the night, combining acoustic guitar, cello and drums to create original songs packed with melodic hooks, lyrical wit and plenty of wisdom. Another local act bringing a distinctive sound and a fresh take on original music. Rounding out the night are The LokoJackLins, a young band from Hawke’s Bay made up entirely of high-school-aged musicians. Formed through the Napier Music Academy in early 2023, they’ve grown into a tight-knit group, mixing covers with an increasing number of originals as they develop their own unique sound. From experienced performers to the next generation of Kiwi musicians, this is a night about supporting original music made in Aotearoa and giving local artists a stage to share their own voices.
