Boating

Making the most of our beautiful coastline involves getting out on the water for many of us. Doing this in a way that ensures we get home safely is vital – Coastguard Kāpiti is an important source of information for boating safely on the Kāpiti Coast.

Boat launching

Vehicles are allowed on Kāpiti beaches to launch and retrieve boats in boat launching areas only. You can find out where these are on the map at Accessways and driving zones on the beach foreshore. Descriptions and contact information for the boating ramps is available on Greater Wellington Regional Council's Kāpiti Coast launching ramps page.

All motorised boats and watercraft must use a designated boat launching area to launch or land. Other boats and watercraft can also launch and land in these areas, or in any beach area where driving is allowed.

Kāpiti Marine Reserve

It's important that boaties are familiar with the boundaries and rules of the Kāpiti Marine Reserve for any fishing or diving. Check out the Department of Conservation's handy Kāpiti Marine Reserve resource to make sure you're up to date.
