Council reduces shortlisted options to four.

Key stakeholder meetings reviewing technical information on the remaining options.

Council decides on preferred water supply solution with the top ranked option being selected.

Council adopts the 2009/19 Long Term Council Community Plan. The Plan outlines the district’s water supply and conservation goals, including a five year plan to build new supply capacity.

August/September 

Water Project Team discusses partnership approach with Iwi.
Water Project Team begins consultation with stakeholders.

October/November

 

Council appoints Technical Advisory Group of local residents, all volunteers and experts in their fields.
Council asks for expressions of interest from technical consultancies.

December

Technical consultants appointed.
Council adopts Water Supply Capacity Review and Options for Supplementary Supply report which outlines 41 options.
First round of public meetings to discuss community values on water.
Values will inform the criteria used to assess the various water supply options.
Development of Water Conservation Plan commences.
