Draft Plan Change 1K – Electoral signage
Council’s drafting changes to the District Plan to amend electoral signage provisions. Our aim is to remove unnecessary inconsistency between the District Plan and the requirements for election advertisements outlined under the Electoral (Advertisements of a Specific Kind) Regulations 2005 (the regulations).
Plan Change 1K proposes increasing the electoral sign size allowed in the District Plan during the election period (both national and local body elections) to up to 3.0 square metres (it is currently up to 2.0 square metres). This aligns with the electoral signage size allowed by the regulations.
Note: “draft” plan changes are not Council policy and do not have any legal effect.
Feedback on draft plan change 1K closed at 5pm, Wednesday 11 May.
We'll be carrying out public notification and formal consultation on the proposed plan change 1K in July 2022 (to be confirmed).
