Fifteen Kāpiti arts and cultural projects have received funding through the Creative Communities Scheme, funded by Creative New Zealand and administered by Kāpiti Coast District Council. The total value allocated is about $28,000.

Kāpiti Coast District Council Community Grants Advisor Nerita Clark said the scheme supports locally driven initiatives that encourage community participation in the arts.

“This funding round saw an impressive and diverse range of applications, making it a tough selection process for Council’s Grants Allocation Subcommittee,” said Ms Clark.

“It’s great to see so many arts leaders and groups and the range of activities supporting creativity in our community.

“Funded projects include workshops in creative writing, tamariki and rangatahi dance, musical performances, a NZ Sign Language theatre performance and dementia friendly art classes.

“These projects will provide opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to get involved in our district’s vibrant creative scene - whether performing, creating, or enjoying the creativity and connection with other people.

“Congratulations to the recipients, we look forward to seeing their ideas in action over the coming months.”
